ARTIST STATEMENT
Shingo Oe (1978) is a modern artist from Chiba prefecture, Japan, and has lived in Barcelona, Spain for more than ten years. He has participated in various art fairs and exhibitions such as "ART FAIR TOKYO", "Miami River Art Fair", "Art Monaco", "World Art Dubai", and "Le Salon des Beaux-Arts de la SNBA" in Louvre, Paris. He defines himself as a "Modern Action Artist".
The execution of his works is based on a very personal technique in which the artist meets the work directly, in a melee. As a result, his works created directly with his hands present exceptional dynamism and appeal. His art is influenced by ancient Japanese culture and traditional Japanese martial art. He grew up near the ancient ruins of the Jōmon period (3000 BC); a past that fascinated him, and that has influenced his art.
Another of his passions is the practice of Japanese martial art: Aikido. The performance of this martial art is reflected in the execution of movements. Another of his artistic influences in Spanish culture and Catalan modern art. Shingo has been steeped in these styles, which together with his native culture, blend together creating a very personal style.
The artist investigates through various styles, including abstract art as the main project, along with Pop Art illustration and Live painting performances carried out with different music groups.
