Among the paintings, sketches, and drawings of Mexican masters like Tamayo, Siqueiros, Remedios Varo, and Orozco in the family’s art gallery, a great curiosity arises to awaken the artistic inspiration of a little girl, Dunia Gatica.
Her extreme use of light and shadow to obsessive color application in her artwork has led to brilliant critiques of important collectors and gallerists from London and the United States. A great part of her early work’s subject matter is a compilation of the strong linkage with the Middle Eastern culture.
Currently, she is part of the permanent roster of artists in one of the most important contemporary art galleries in Miami.
Her artistic evolution and projects have led her to be a part of the “Miami River Art Fair” during Art Basel in Miami from 2012 to 2021 as well as the Art Fair Monaco, Venezia Biennale, Art Dubai, Art Paris, New York, and Art Singapore on a regular basis.
